A self initiated illustration project, “What I Wore: May 2012”, chronicles my daily outfits for the month of May.
Reaching back to my fashion blogging roots, I decided to challenge my dedication to illustration and fashion by creating quick 5 minute sketches of what I wore everyday for the course of a year. Each month I experimented using different media and styles. What started off as a fun routine has now become my own illustrated self-history of who I used to be, who I am now, and who I’ve yet to become.
For May I decided to use a ballpoint pen. While not the most elegant of art tools, the utilitarianism and everyday-ness of the blue ballpoint pen really emphasized the everyday-ness of human dressing. That a habit could become beautiful when you see the pattern.
